Mountain trails and community parks
Mt. Ogden’s location along the Wasatch Mountains creates ample opportunities for outdoor recreation. The neighborhood’s entire eastern area is taken up by Mt. Ogden Park and its expansive grassy fields. There’s a playground, a picnic table pavilion for relaxing and pickleball courts. “On a weekend in the summertime, the soccer fields are loaded with people,” Matasic says. “The park is a central place where people like to congregate.” Additionally, the Mount Ogden Golf Course is a public, 18-gole course sprawled throughout the green space. Farther south is Marquardt Park, which has a playground and multiple walking trails. In addition to the parks, the neighborhood has a myriad of connecting trails in the east. The 27th Street Trailhead travels into Taylor Canyon, while the 36th Street Trailhead follows the Strongs Canyon. The 29th Street Trailhead leads to Waterfall Canyon, which has a towering cascade. “It’s amazing to see the amount of people that come through for the trails,” says Matasic. “There are several bridges and streams along them, and a waterfall.” The Snowbasin Resort sits at the top of the mountain, which is about a 20-mile drive. As one of the oldest operating ski areas in the country, Snowbasin has over 20 trails and several gondolas that take visitors to them.Single-story and multi-family housing options
Homes in Mount Ogden sit along winding, tree-lined streets. Many properties have manicured lawns and driveways, though there is plenty of space for street parking. Brick ramblers and single-story, mid-century modern homes are common, with most having been constructed in the 1940s or 1960s. These houses span 1,800 to 3,000 square feet and range from $275,000 to $600,000. Split levels and bilevels in the neighborhood go for $550,000 to $600,000. Additionally, there are a handful of traditional condos in Mt. Ogden that are multi-level buildings with single-story housing units. These properties span 900 to 1,500 square feet and are priced around $300,000 to $400,000. “Ogden is unique. It’s one of the few places in the world where you can buy homes near a ski resort for under seven figures,” says Realtor David Willis with Equity Real Estate, who has over 15 years of experience.A community that sticks together
While there are no homeowners associations in Mt. Ogden, the community still hosts social events, such as a fall festival, that bring people together. “They’re all-inclusive for anyone who is interested in getting to know their neighbors,” Matasic says. Just Serve Ogden is an organization that hosts service projects where people can help spruce up areas in need. Every spring, the group picks among blocks within the neighborhood to beautify.Quality schools within the Ogden City School District
