The shaded residential streets of Stony Brook lie in the Millard region about 20 miles southwest of downtown Omaha. Millard was once a separate town, and its water tower rises from the corner of the neighborhood to let residents know they’ve arrived. Although Millard was annexed by Omaha in 1971, neighborhoods like Stony Brook still offer a respite from the big city. “That’s the type of neighborhood where you could live your life within a two- or three-mile radius and be very happy,” says Ryan Beck, a Realtor with BHHS Ambassador Real Estate who’s been selling in the region for more than five years. “Especially anyone who’s active and likes riding their bikes or going on walks. That’s a draw for that area.” The highly rated Millard Public Schools district is another major perk. Neihardt Elementary School and Andersen Middle School are steps away from many homes, making it easy for kids to walk or ride their bikes to school.
