In 1963, cowboy/singer/actor Gene Autry bought the place and lived in the two-story owner's unit, complete with its own private pool. Autry sold the Ocotillo to Jerry Buss, owner of the L.A. Lakers, in 1968, who used it as a getaway for the players. Today, it is all condos, and one of the few that allows for short term rentals, making it a popular investment for vacation rental hosts.
