If you're a dog owner, like so many "downtowners," grab the leash and head up the street just a couple blocks to what Forbes Magazine calls "One of America's best city parks." The 222-acre, Encanto Park is an oasis in the central corridor, with picnic areas, a lagoon, boat house, swimming pool, nature trail, urban fishing and lighted handball/ racquetball courts. For golfers, the municipal golf courses offer modest fees and are busy all year long.
