The building is quiet, professional, secured, and rent includes free parking (a rarity in downtown) and free Wi-Fi. It is located on the northwest corner of Washington Street and Hickory Street. It is two stories with a total square footage of 2,422. In addition to the 18 apartments it also has three retail stores. They are JJ Realtors, Mother Ghost, and Planted - residential realtors, custom women's clothing, and house plants respectively.

The Hickory Street Apartments has traditionally had a large University of Illinois influence.
