About Allison
Allison Kahn brings the spirit of an entrepreneur and the aesthetic sensitivity of an art collector to her work as a real estate agent representing buyers and sellers of elegant properties across Manhattan.
Inspired by a year abroad studying art history in Paris, Allison’s first career was in fine art sales, initially at Christie’s Auction House and later at the Sundaram Tagore Gallery. After working in the art world, she built her own high-end accessories company which she grew to a million dollar business selling to stores worldwide (Bergdorf Goodman, Saks, Bloomingdales to name a few). With the shifting manufacturing market that began in 2008, Allison decided to “come home to real estate” (her mother and brother are also real estate agents in New York City), she brought her love of art and her personal experience renovating co-op apartments with her. Whether her clients need assistance evaluating the untapped potential of an estate-condition property or they are looking for guidance in finding a home that is ideal for showcasing fine art, Allison can offer sound advice and an objective point of view.
A native New Yorker and life-long resident of the Upper East Side, where she attended The Chapin School when she was a child, Allison began her career in real estate representing friends, family, and former colleagues. Her commitment to maintaining absolute discretion has made her a trusted advisor within her network and among the many referrals they have sent her way.
Allison offers every client not only the benefit of her deep knowledge of New York real estate, but also her undivided attention when it comes to understanding what they are looking for in a new home. She helps her clients find the specific style of apartment that suits their tastes and introduces them to neighborhoods that are ideal for their lifestyle. She is also an invaluable resource in helping clients navigate the financial hurdles unique to co-op purchases.
Allison graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in English. She lives with her husband and two daughters in Carnegie Hill and continues to be actively involved in the art world as a collector of contemporary and modern art.
