About Andy

Capt. Andy Burwell is the owner of the Burwell Real Estate. Born at Morton Plant Hospital and raised in Clearwater; Andy has extensive local knowledge of the area as well as the ever-changing market conditions that encompass it. As a senior in high school, he witnessed his parents interview a realtor to sell their home. He proceeded to then attend the presentation of the offer and the closing on the home in which he grew up. That day was a turning point for Andy; he knew what he was meant to do. Having earned a B.S. in Business and Economics from Florida State University he went on to complete his MBA from the Warrington College of Business at The University of Florida. After obtaining his degree and working about a year as an outside sales representative in the oil business Andy decided it was time to focus his energy on the job he was meant to do. He had realized that his heart and skill set were meant for Real Estate.

Andy joined the Real Estate world in 1991 with Rodgers & Cummings Real Estate (Merrill Lynch Realty). His parent’s Realtor from back in high school, Mary Ann McMurtrey took him under her wing. Andy was a natural from the beginning and quickly became popular among clients and Realtors alike. He soon hired a personal assistant to help with his workload; it worked for a number of years. However, Andy remembers watching his daughter at horseback riding practice, and realizing that if he wanted to give his clients and his family the time, they deserve he needed help. At that moment in 2012 he picked up the phone and began building his team and it has been growing ever since.

Andy is a resolute husband and father of two. Married since 1996 he believes that family is most important, and he works hard to make sure he is always there for them. Andy loves the water and has been a longtime member and Commodore of Carlouel Yacht Club, spending any free time he gets on, around or even under the water with his wife and kids. Andy is exceptionally dedicated to community involvement. He serves on the Board of Directors of The Salvation Army, Morton Plant Mease Bay Care Hospitals, Clearwater Marine Aquarium, Pinellas Executives Association, and Rotary Club of Clearwater where he continues perfect attendance since 1991. He is also a member of and volunteer at Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church. Andy believes in putting others before himself, and he upholds the same standards for all the members of his team.
