Barb Adams

Barb Adams is happy to call Isle of Palms, in Treasure Island, home. After receiving BA degrees in both English and Mass Communications (specializing in photojournalism) from USF, Barb began work at the Palm Beach Post as its first woman staff photographer. She especially enjoyed shooting sports, like Miami Dolphins football, and immersing herself in in-depth stories, like an award-winning project on a maximum-security women’s prison. After winning numerous regional and national awards, Barb moved to Louisville, Kentucky, where she continued her newspaper work for The Courier-Journal. That is where Barb met and married her husband, Jim. Again, Barb continued winning national awards not only for her photographs but for her picture editing and page layout and design as well. As Barb’s and Jim’s family grew to include three beautiful children, Barb decided to open her own boutique photo studio, specializing in children and newborns, in the family’s home, an 1840s historic landmark mansion. Her extraordinary portrait work adorns the walls of many of Louisville’s finest homes. During their 26 years in their antebellum home, Barb and Jim completed a total and historically true renovation, providing an excellent hands-on education in home construction, design, and landscaping.

With the kids now grown and living on their own, Barb was thrilled with the decision to move back “home” to the Gulf Coast. Her business skills and ability to establish rapport with clients, combined with her creative eye and artistic energy, made transitioning to the real estate market a natural. “Every morning I wake up and can’t believe how lucky I am to live here. It’s the best! Helping others find their own piece of paradise is a privilege I embrace.” In her three-plus years in real estate, Barb has established a strong presence in the luxury beach and waterfront market. Her many happy clients’ ringing endorsements testify to her ability to achieve their goals. Barb loves riding her bike and walking on the beach during our beautiful sunsets. She is an active volunteer on Isle of Palms projects and serves as board member and Vice-President of the Isle of Palms Civic Association.
