About Bill
Bill was going into my senior year of college when he bought a plane ticket. Seven months travelling through the South Pacific and no real plan; it was going to be the trip of a lifetime.
While in Bill’s junior year of college at the University of Iowa, he and some friends were itching for a break from school. He was a year away from graduating and not sure about the direction he was moving in; he craved a chance to get away from it all.
They decided the perfect escape would be a back-packing trip through the South Pacific. The plan was exhilarating even just to think about! They would buy our plane ticket and hop from island to island, country to country, immersing ourselves in the culture and forgetting about our cares for a time. As time went by, all Bill’s buddies backed out of the trip for one reason or another. He was the only one still committed to going. Inspired by a friend who did a similar trip, Bill went ahead and purchased his ticket and there was not anything that was going to hold him back from that adventure - so off he went!
After making his way to San Francisco, Bill hopped on a plane and headed straight for Hawaii. From there, he visited every place he could: the Hawaiian Islands, Samoa, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, and New Caledonia. The journey was beautiful, but every turn was unexpected and new.
He hitchhiked around each island carrying his pack and a small tent. For shelter, Bill would either stay with locals who invited him into their home, camped in his small tent, or stayed at youth hostels. His travels had their challenges, no doubt; he had a general plan for where he was going, the cultures were very different from his own, and Bill realized how many basic amenities he had taken for granted back home. But it was an adventure; it enriched hid life and changed the way he viewed people and the world.
After getting home from the trip, Bill went back to school and graduated with his bachelor’s degree in business. He took a job in San Francisco with the goal of continuing his travels whenever he could –bit by the travel bug. Bill participated in an exchange program in China where he took a semester of classes to further his education. Then, he went on to get his MBA from the University of Hawaii and even spent a semester studying in Japan.
“Travelling is special to me. It has broadened my horizons and opened my eyes to what’s really out there in the world.”
After working over 30 years in the corporate world, Bill needed a change. That’s when Bill decided to get his real estate license. For the past ten years, he has had the fortune of being in a career that not only betters his life, but that gives him a chance to better the lives of others.
Travelling has helped him understand people from a variety of backgrounds. It has brought him closer to himself and given him friends all over the world. Connecting with people is one of his favorite things to do.
As a real estate agent, Bill gets to meet others with as many unique situations as there are people in this world. He will always strive to understand your needs and desires when looking to buy or sell your home. Bill prides himself in being able to help his clients through the real estate process in a professional, friendly, and timely manner. This is the most important financial decision one can make in life and he is here to assist you every step of the way.
