About Boris

Boris was born in Havana, Cuba, and spent his early years there. His father's career took the family to Bucharest, where Boris attended his first two years of college at the University of Bucharest from 1986 until 1988. He then returned to Havana to complete his college education at the University of Havana. At twenty-two, Boris moved to Mexico City to pursue a career. 3M in Mexico City hired him and provided an opportunity for three and a half years. A friend then arranged an interview with one of Mexico’s premiere lighting design and marketing companies, and Boris landed the job. He saw an opportunity and began marketing lighting fixtures and accessories to design, lighting, and specialty stores all over Mexico. Two of his principal clients included the leading Spanish television network Televisa, and Medica Sur, one of the largest hospitals in Mexico City. With money saved from his business, and a container full of electrical fixtures, Boris set off for America, leaving his business to his brother Abel. He chose Philadelphia to spend time in a place predominantly English speaking, and he quickly found a job at the “very chic” Millennium Coffee Shop in downtown Philly. A man with a Cuban accent when he asked if he could be of assistance and there was no mistaking his accent for Philadelphia “Main Line.” This led to him introducing himself to the store managers and he soon became a Ralph Lauren “Associate” in the Home Furnishings Department. After nearly four years in Philadelphia and summers in New Hope, he still decided to return to South Florida which was closer to his family ties, culture, and a more familiar landscape. After settling in Miami, he went to a Real Estate school and passed both the school and state exams. He is now fluent in both Spanish and English and is able to pursue his dreams. The freedoms he enjoys now allow him to choose the home he lives in, where he lives, and how he lives. He is forever changed and thankful for the opportunities he has been given.
