A friend refers me to their friend, who has a friend (the referral refers me to her friend) who needs to sell her home because she is in a financial dilemma. I assess her situation and instead of listing and selling her home, I did what was best for the client, referred her to an amazing lender, Eddie Anderson, Upwell Mortgage. He refinanced her mortgage and fixed her problem and YEAH I am the HERO!! Especially to the referral who referred me, right? (now the story) Not long after all this I get a call from the referral of the friend who asks if I can help her with her real estate purchase and of course I say “YES!” Until I find out that she is already buying a house and is in contract using a different agent, the listing agent, who's name and number was on the sign, at which point I take back my YES and say, “I'm sorry but no, I cannot and will not interfere with another agent’s transaction.” I did offer her general real estate information. When I asked why she used the listing agent and instead of me, she said, “he said he would work for her for FREE” at which point I said, “silly, because the seller usually pays the commission to the listing agent and the listing agent pays the buyer’s agent, technically, I work for you for free too!” The moral of the story? If you'd like my expertise, BEFORE you put your signature on a purchase agreement call me first...callCHICfirst !!! You never know...I may even work for you for FREE...
