Chris Dunkel

Chris is proud to be a member of the Funkhouser Real Estate Group, since moving to the area with his family from Chicago. After receiving his A.B. from Dartmouth College in 1989 and his J.D. from the University of Illinois in 1994, Chris enjoyed a career as a real estate developer in Chicago, while also maintaining a successful legal practice. After spending years visiting family in the Harrisonburg-Rockingham County area, Chris relocated to Rockingham County with his wife, Valerie, and son, Jackson, in the summer of 2013. As an attorney with a practice focusing on real estate, Chris has negotiated and drafted both commercial and residential leases and represented both buyers and sellers in commercial and residential real estate transactions. In his work as a real estate developer and general contractor, Chris oversaw every phase of the development, from the purchase of investment properties, the procurement of plans and permits, the construction new multi-family buildings, and the ultimate sale of the units. Chris has been a member of the Illinois State Bar since 1994 and the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois, since 1995. Chris has been a licensed real estate broker in the state of Illinois since 2009. Chris brings his extensive real estate experience, and unique insight regarding legal matters, to the Harrisonburg-Rockingham County area with the hopes of helping both buyers and sellers achieve their real estate goals. While helping clients in both the residential and commercial real estate markets, Chris has specialized in residential income producing properties such as student housing and multi-family investments.
