I come from a diverse and experienced background. Growing up in a suburb of Cleveland, graduating from Midpark High School, receiving my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at The Ohio State University in 1980 to then shortly afterward boarding a plane to Slovenia with a backpack and passport in hand. I spoke Italian and Spanish but when funds ran low, I found an apprentice job at a machine shop in Munich, West Germany. I saved enough money from my apprenticeship to study International Relations in Paris, France the following year.
After two years abroad, I returned to Ohio to help with my family’s fast food business. Then I met my future wife, Ca
Camille, who was finishing up her college education at The Ohio State University. We married in 1985 and spent two years in London, England and expanded our family in 1991 with the birth of our son, Connor. Most of the 90’s were spent in Bahrain working for an investment bank where I specialized in international tax and corporate governance. After 15 years in the field, my family moved to Upper Sandusky in 2000 to better serve our son’s special needs.
From 2000 to 2008 I was owner of a full service restaurant, was elected to Upper Sandusky’s City Council, served on the local board for United Way, ran for Mayor and then for Ohio State Representative, acquired my Commercial Drivers License and drove long haul freight across the country. In the ensuing years, I worked 2nd shift in a Marion factory as a forklift operator, published a novel, volunteered for Special Olympics, became a state licensed insurance agent, taught at Tri-Rivers Career Center as a substitute, became project manager for an independent contractor installing compressed natural gas (CNG) stations, lobbied at the General Assembly for the 2015 alternative fuels tax and wrote grants for a Tiffin-based operation to build a CNG station. I worked part-time providing logistical support for a Carey-based refuse hauler and ended up clerking at a local supermarket. At present, in addition to my real estate duties, I consult small businesses assisting them with their credit card processing needs.
