Born in Atlanta, Creighton grew up in Columbia and has lived there most of his life. He was a twelve-year attendee of James H. Hammond Academy (The Hammond School) and received his undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina where he became a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.

Creighton is a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral and attends church as often as possible with his daughter Gambrell. In fact, it was the desire to be more available to Gambrell that originally led him to a career in real estate.
