David Jones arrived in Cashiers at the end of 2006 from Augusta to manage High Hampton Inn. He is a native of Waycross, Georgia. David is a graduate of the University of Georgia and a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Upon graduation from Georgia, David taught junior high school in Hilliard, Florida teaching science and coaching basketball. His heart has always been in hospitality since working at the Cloister Hotel during his junior college days in Brunswick, Georgia. David was part of the Sea Pines team that opened Amelia Island Plantation in 1974. While at Amelia he transitioned into the operation run by Marriott Hotels and Resorts. Amelia is also where he first met his wife, Nora Mcchesney, a native of Atlanta.
David's career with Marriott led him to Kansas City, MO; Point Clear, AL; Marco Island, FL; Lexington, KY and Jacksonville, FL. He joined Hilton as Assistant General Manager in Myrtle Beach, SC and then on to Augusta, GA where he helped open Sheraton Augusta Hotel in 1990. In 1995 he was chosen General Manager of the Year for ITT Sheraton of North America.
David was recruited by the Greenville Health System to become the Care Support Administrator for GHS in 1997. He was called back to Augusta to take the leadership role at the historic Partridge Inn in 2000 and was there until the sale of the property. That is when Cashiers came into the picture. In 2008, David was president of the Southern Innkeepers Association that celebrated their 100th year at the Greenbrier Resort. While in the mountains David worked in management positions with the Cliffs Communities, ClubCorp and Trillium Links and Lake Club.
David and Nora have 6 children and 15 grandchildren. David has been involved with various boards in the Augusta area. Past president of Kiwanis, St. Joseph Hospital Foundation, Metro Augusta CVB. Locally, David is involved with Blue Ridge Free Dental Clinic and is a committee member in various roles at the Church of the Good Shepherd.
Presently, David works with both sellers and buyers as a broker with Landmark Realty Group LLC. His endeavors have closed properties in Franklin, Glenville, Cullowhee, Sapphire, Lake Toxaway, Cashiers and Highlands. David is also licensed in Georgia.
