Originally from Daytona Beach, Florida, I moved to the Atlanta Metro area in 1999 with my husband and 3 children when my husband was transferred here with his employer. Although I love the sunshine state and enjoy going back to visit family, I am so glad this is the place we call home. It has been a wonderful area to raise a family and I’ve found it to be a place of endless opportunities.
As my children grew and my responsibilities in the home became less, I considered what career I might enjoy for the next chapter of my life. Real Estate was the one thing that I kept coming back to. It was not the “selling” that attracted me, rather a fascination with the housing industry. With my grandfather being a developer and my father a general contractor who specialized in custom homes, I grew up appreciating the components that make the “perfect” home, and an understanding that “perfect” is different for everyone.
As a young adult, buying my first home with my husband, my father, with his knowledge of construction, taught me to search out potential. Because of our limited budget, we looked at older homes that tended to be dark and confining. My father helped me to see changes that we could make at minimal expense to open up a space, draw in more light and create a pleasant place to live. As time and money allowed, we were then able to make cosmetic updates. Although a home may not seem “perfect” at first glance, it may have hidden potential just waiting to be recognized by the right person.
