He was very responsive whenever I reached out to him and when it was time to make an offer on a home, Decatur had a plan of action to accomplish the job. My overall experience working with Decatur in buying my first home was great. I knew nothing about the process and Decatur and his team made sure I was always informed and no question was a dumb question. I felt comfortable making this HUGE long term investment while working with him and his team.

Here is some background on me so you have an idea of what they were working with. Personally I have been working for the past two years on getting myself in the position to be a first time home owner in Southern California on a single income. Almost 2 years ago I paid off my credit card debt and the following year I paid off my student loans. My credit scores differed by a lot. My lowest was in 730s and my highest was just above 800.

Coming into this process I knew nothing. All I understood was that I was tired of paying $1800 rent for a 1bd/1ba with 3/4 size covered parking space. Decatur asked me to review my overhead and see what I could comfortably afford and what are my “must haves” in the home I was looking for. This turned out to be $3,000 max monthly mortgage to including HOA, Taxes, insurance. 1+ bd, 1+ ba, garage, available parking, and close to a beach either by foot, bike, or shorts drive. What I ultimately ended up with was a Condo that I knew I liked from the first time I walked up to it. It cost $349k 904sqft, 2bd,2ba, detached garage, designated parking spot, top floor, and just over 2.5mi drive or bike ride from the beach. $2200 monthly mortgage and HOA payment at 2.75% fixed. On a VA loan so no down payment. The whole process from viewing the property to closing escrow was about 32 days. And total time working with Decatur and his team was roughly 2 months. All of this was achieved while California was dealing with COVID-19 and the quarantine measures. They made sure that when I showed interest in any of the properties that met my desires, or even caught my eye... They would find the next day I was available to view the property and they supplied me with all the information that i didn’t even know I should be considering. On top of it they made sure everything complied with local standards and guidance, either by our actions or the sellers, to mitigate against the spread of the virus. So I felt safe finding a home.

My family doesn’t normally give reviews for a job well done when all workers should have a goal of doing a good job. But, in this case we have to make an exception. To understand this exception, you have to understand why. This was not our first home purchase and we were not compelled to buy, but rather patient. We were very meticulous in selecting a property and because of our legal contract background, the cookie-cutter contract used was inadequate – with us, very high requirements. In stepped Decatur. The greatest complement we can give is to say that it didn’t feel as though Decatur had any other customers or even another life. When we needed him, he called us before we called him. Requirements were accomplished professionally. Decatur wasn’t just our agent; he was our close companion or colleague. We recommend Decatur for his services. He values a good work ethic where others fell short.

Probably the best realtor I have worked with in a long time. Decatur was extremely attentive to my needs and wants for my new home. He went above and beyond to do what ever he could to save me some money, by having the seller help pay for most of my closing cost.
