Douglas Bendt comes to Berkshire Hathaway Home Services New York Properties with a background in banking, mortgages, real estate technology, and investment in residential rental real estate portfolios.
He created one of the first automated valuation models for residential properties throughout the United States for Mortgage Risk Assessment Corporation, which he founded in 1992. Clients included the nation's largest home lenders, including Chase Manhattan, Wells Fargo and Countywide. First American acquired the company in 2004.
Doug is a native Midwesterner, born in Wisconsin, where he attended University of Wisconsin-Madison, receiving a BA in psychology and an MA in economics. Although he has been a long-term resident of the Upper East Side, he first lived in Greenwich Village when he came to New York from Washington, DC before buying his first townhouse on Brooklyn.
Doug was attracted to Berkshire Hathaway for its rock-solid financial strength, integrity, and forward-thinking approach. These values echo his own beliefs as the most important components of every real-estate transaction.
He has served on two condominium boards as Treasurer and President, which gives him insights to the issues of coop and condo living.
In his personal time, Doug enjoys reading, writing, cooking, and playing golf.
