Mr. Mahaffey, Vice President and Affiliate Broker for TCI Group-Jerry Petzoldt Agency, is a full-time experienced commercial broker. He is a member of the National Association of Realtors and the Northeast Tennessee Association of Realtors. A seasoned professional, he has over 45 years of experience in the construction and building materials industry. Now in his fourth year with TCI Group and having worked closely with industrial, manufacturing, and commercial customers, Ed brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the TCI Group.
Prior to joining TCI Group, Ed enjoyed a successful career at Builders FirstSource, the nation’s largest full-service professional builder supply. During his tenure, he served as the Regional Pro Sales Manager, overseeing sales operations in the East Tennessee region. Before that, he held the position of Vice-President of Operations at Tindells Building Supply, a commercial and industrial supplier in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Throughout his career, Ed has excelled in various roles, including professional sales management, sales training, manufacturing, production, purchasing, supply-chain negotiations, and facility supervision. His experience extends beyond operations, as he has also worked in corporate environments, handling responsibilities in human resources, financial analysis, budget management, operations management and strategic planning.
Ed’s commitment to professional growth is evident in his completion of training programs in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Process Improvement, and APICS Operations Management. His dedication to excellence was recognized when he received the Pro Sales Excellence in Sales award in 2004 and was named the Pro Sales “Dealer of the Year” in 2007.
Beyond his professional achievements, Ed has actively contributed to his community. He served as the president of the Credit Bureau of Bristol and the Bristol Tennessee Civil Service Commission. Additionally, he held the positions of Secretary and Treasurer at the Kiwanis Club of Kingsport and is active in Meals on Wheels.
With a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Tusculum College, Ed has a solid academic foundation. His achievements during his time at Tusculum College were acknowledged when he was named to the 1985 “Who’s Who in American Colleges.”
