Elizabeth is the owner and broker for Northwest Real Estate Services in Defiance, Ohio. She is a life-long Defiance resident and was raised in the home her parents built on East Broadway Street. She began her professional journey as a home economics teacher at Pettisville High School after graduating with a Master’s degree from Bowling Green State University and Bachelor’s degree from Albion College. From 1979 to 1988 she was the co-owner of Sigg Realty of Defiance, a full-service brokerage.
From 1989 to 1991 she was an independent appraiser, then opened Northwest Appraisals in 1991. Her appraisal business quickly grew from working out of a spare room at home to become the largest appraisal business in the four-county area, servicing all Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. With her appraisal business growing at a steady pace, she went back to her roots teaching part-time at Northwest State Community College in Archbold. In 2001 she became an accredited professor for Hondros College teaching both pre-licensing and continuing education courses for the real estate and appraisal industries.
After 25 years as a real estate appraiser and owner of Northwest Appraisals, Elizabeth opened Northwest Real Estate in 2007. They were welcomed with open arms into the community by Mayor Bob Armstrong.
