Gene Hayden relocated from Ohio to Boulder County in 1978. He jokes "I'm not a native, but I got here as soon as I could!" He has 4 adult children and 2 grandkids, and lives in Lafayette with his wife, Bonnie Lucara. After decades in residential real estate, most of the Gene’s business is with satisfied repeat clients and referrals of their friends and family. His approach is consultative, asking lots of questions and listening carefully to ensure the clients’ wants and needs are fully met. Beyond sales and purchases of personal residences, Gene has helped many of his clients with their investment real estate goals, whether by buying a rental property with personal funds and credit or buying it as an asset within their self-directed IRA or 401k. He is also well-versed in 1031 tax-deferred exchanges with clients who are growing their portfolios, or in liquidating properties in a controlled tax-deferred fashion. Gene has a long history volunteering for the Boulder Area Realtor Association and was honored with its Distinguished Realtor Award for that service. He also holds the Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES) designation from the National Association of Realtors. Seniors typically have a separate set of needs and concerns when it comes to their homes and investments, so Gene’s patient, consultative approach is ideal. Many seniors prefer to modify the current residence so they can age-in-place if possible, and Gene is able to suggest contractors who may be able to help realize that goal. If modification is not possible or practical, it may be time to buy a more suitable home, or to consider alternate living arrangements including independent and/or assisted living communities. That may mean renting the current house for income or selling it to free up equity for such a move. If Gene sounds like your kind of realtor, call or email him to arrange an interview.
