George was born and raised in Lewes. His family has lived in Lewes since 1650, so he is a local through and through. He graduated from the University of Miami and became involved in the Financial Planning industry working with duPont Company executives in Wilmington, DE. Later, he provided financial planning and employee benefit services to Delaware small businesses. As an entrepreneur, he founded a solar energy company dealing in both electricity and hot water. In 2015 he was part of the State of Delaware's first trade mission to Mexico.
