He graduated Shawneed Mission East high school then went on to the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated from the Wharton School of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. He returned to KC to work with his father in the family furniture business, Davidson's Furniture, in downtown Kansas City. From there he helped re-create their office furniture division which became an important growth arear for the company.
