About Gwen
Gwen Williamson Mathews continually exceeds client expectations by providing outstanding service with strong marketing and negotiating skills. Her ability to listen, find solutions and attend to details ensures a smooth transaction for clients from start to finish.
Gwen is a native Lexingtonian who graduated from Transylvania University and left home to earn a master's degree in higher education administration and counseling at The University of South Carolina. After working for several years as a college administrator at both The Savannah College of Art and Design and the University of South Carolina, Gwen happily returned to Lexington in 1990 to pursue a career as a development director at her alma mater raising millions of dollars for the University and later serving as an administrator and counselor in the department of student life. At the same time, Gwen wisely began investing in real estate and discovered a true passion for helping others with their own real estate purchases. When Gwen made the decision nearly 20 years ago to pursue a full-time career in real estate, she quickly earned numerous accolades including Rookie of the Year, Million Dollar Club membership and she was recognized by the Quality Service Certified Organization as one of the top agents in the United States. Locally, Gwen was voted one of Lexington's favorite Realtors in the 2008 Lexington Herald-Leader Readers' Choice awards. Awards are nice, but Gwen finds the best reward is repeat clients who become lifelong friends. Former clients cite her knowledge of the community, practical advice, honesty and sense of humor as making the home buying and selling process a great experience.
Gwen is Central Kentucky’s biggest cheerleader and has loved raising her own family in the Bluegrass. Her husband, Marc Mathews, is a retired Vice President of Business and Finance from Transylvania University and former Treasurer at the University of Kentucky. He now works as a licensed Realtor and serves as her agent associate bringing a wealth of qualified financial knowledge and experience to his role on the Mathews Team. Her son and daughter attended Lexington public schools, graduated from college out of state but eventually returned to Lexington to make their own homes.
Gwen has been active leader and volunteer with many community organizations over her years in Lexington and enjoys helping clients new to Lexington find not only a house but a home in the Lexington community. She is an avid runner, yoga enthusiast, reader, and knitter and loves nothing better than hiking the Red River Gorge with her ridiculously adorable dog, Dug.
