About Helen
Helen Nicholas hails from the Old Dominion, (Virginia and West Virginia), where most of her extended family still reside. She learned early in life to appreciate the challenges of settling into a new home, having relocated to ten different cities all across the country by the time she was in her mid-twenties. She knew she had found her permanent home when she moved to Oakland's Montclair District over forty years ago.
She began her real estate career soon, thereafter, knowing that the skills she had developed in her first professional pursuit as a classroom teacher would serve her clients well as their realtor. Helen made a commitment to always put the best interests of her clients first and found that her good reputation quickly grew and allowed her to become one of her company´s top producers consistently since 1977. Helen also became dedicated to civic and professional volunteerism, serving on several Boards and committees. She has been selected as Realtor of the Year by her local Association of Realtors for an unprecedented three times, most recently for 2010. She is one of only two who have received the Outstanding Leadership Award. She received the Association's "From the Heart" award in 2008. Helen was selected as Honorary Director for Life in 2015. CAR and NAR recognized her as Honorary Member for Life for 2018. Some of her other activities include service for the California Association of Realtors as a Key Contact for state legislators and is a Federal Political Coordinator providing advocacy to Congress on behalf of the National Association of Realtors and the California 13th District. She is a Director of the Piedmont Pines Neighborhood Association and President of the Chi Omega Association at the University of California Berkeley.
Helen earned her Real Estate Broker license in 1983, the National Association of Realtors Certified Residential Specialist designation in 1996, and was an Alain Pinel Realtors Certified Relocation Specialist, Distressed Property Specialist, and member of the President's Club. APR has since joined forces with Compass. Her clients appreciate her careful consideration of each party's needs, her ability to communicate and explain the intricacies of every step of the process, her accessibility, cheerfulness, and creativity. She has represented many other Realtors in the sale and purchase of their own homes, and for their family members, and several who have retired have referred their entire group of past clients to her to ensure their continued diligent care.
Helen and Compass look forward to offering this same level of professional residential real estate service to you for all of your real estate requirements in Oakland, Piedmont, Berkeley, Alameda, and contiguous cities.
