Jeff O’Connor has always had a vision. As a kid he saw himself playing in the NHL (did not happen). As a young man he saw himself creating wildlife illustrations for zoos around the world (did happen). And today, in his mind’s eye, he sees homes – homes as they are and homes as they could be.
Jeff was born in Michigan into a family of tradesmen. His father was a residential carpenter, and his uncles included an electrician and plasterer. Jeff grew up on the business end of a hammer, and from an early age he learned how quality construction endures and how a house with “good bones” can be transformed into a dream home.
Since becoming a REALTOR® Jeff has put his vision to work, helping buyers find their perfect (or “could be perfect”) homes, and guiding sellers to present their properties for a successful sale. Jeff is an Accredited Staging Professional who sees the potential in each property, and he draws on his many years of interior design, landscape design and construction to help clients reimagine a home from front curb to backyard fence.
In addition, Jeff’s clients find him to be an outstanding partner at each step of the real estate transaction. He constantly communicates with his clients, providing updates and anticipating their questions. He gives excellent recommendations for contractors, inspectors, lawyers, and other service providers. He is a fierce negotiator who has his client’s interests front and center. And his unparalleled enthusiasm and wicked sense humor make a monumental life event – buying or selling a home – actually fun.
Jeff has a Bachelor of Fine Arts and spent fifteen years as an exhibit illustrator for the Brookfield Zoo. He has owned and managed rental property for over 30 years. And he volunteered as a lead carpenter with the Appalachian Service Project, working for six summers in Kentucky with Oak Park teens to make homes “warmer, safer and drier.”
Jeff moved to Oak Park with his wife in 1989 and they raised their two children in the community. He spent many seasons as a volunteer coach or team manager for his kids’ hockey, baseball, and softball leagues, and he didn’t expect to miss this so much now that his children are grown. However, these days, Jeff finds fulfillment using his talents and years of experience on behalf of clients, making their real estate dreams come true.
