Joe Castaneda

Nationally recognized as one of the top performing agents nationwide, Joe Castaneda is the Principal Broker and manager of REMAX Hawaii West Oahu located in Kapolei at the Ka Makana Alii Mall. Although residing and working on the west side of Oahu, Joe continues to service clients island-wide. With over a dozen years of combined real estate and mortgage experience Joe possesses a unique real estate perspective and is consistently a top performing real estate agent on Oahu.

Joe is originally from the Bay Area, California but has now spent over half his life in Hawaii. He attended De La Salle High School in Concord and then later re-joined his family on Oahu. He was a varsity tennis player and planned to continue his tennis career playing collegiately for Hawaii Pacific University until he was suddenly diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. After taking off a full semester to undergo Chemotherapy and Radiation therapy Joe transferred from Hawaii Pacific University to the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Joe graduated with his BBA from the Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, double majoring in International Business and Finance. After being in real estate for a year, the opportunity arose for him to use his finance degree and he transitioned into the mortgage industry to become a mortgage loan originator with Island Pacific Homeloans, a joint venture of Central Pacific Bank.

After starting his real estate career in 2012 and transitioning to lending in 2013 he was voted in 2015 “Best in Real Estate: Mortgage” by Honolulu Magazine as well as voted as one of “Hawaii’s BEST mortgage loan officers” by the Honolulu Star Advertiser. After two years in the mortgage industry he transitioned back into real estate. He now brings his finance, mortgage, and real estate knowledge to help guide his clients through the real estate transaction. In 2016 Joe was part of a Top 100 Real Estate Team in Hawaii before starting his solo career.

Soon after becoming a solo agent Joe went on to start a successful real estate team and obtain his broker’s license. The opportunity came up to move offices from Kahala to the Kapolei office as a Broker-In-Charge. The opportunity later arose for Joe to become the Principal Broker and Manager of the West Oahu office. He is heavily involved in the real estate community and serves as the Chair of the Honolulu Board of Realtors Leeward Regional Group and Chair of the Hawaii Association of Realtors Young Professionals Network (YPN). Previously he has served as the Chair of YPN of Oahu.

Due to his personal experience with cancer Joe also serves as part of the board of HUGS Hawaii (HUGS – Help, Understanding, and Group Support) and previous President of the HUGS Island Professionals (HIP). Joe is a graduate of the Hawaii Association of Realtors Leadership Academy (HARLA) and holds various designations such as the Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR), Military Relocation Professional (MRP), and Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designations.
