About Jonathan
As a third generation Realtor® and builder, along with over 25 years' experience in custom home building, Jonathan Chiott (pronounced "shot") and his team bring beautifully crafted new homes to the Charlotte landscape. Jonathan comes from a large family and boasts his three children are his greatest accomplishment.
Jonathan's education in construction started at the early age of 13, when he began working for his father's home building company in Asheville. With broom in hand, he swept and cleaned up after construction crews. By the time he was in high school Jonathan was adept at such trades as framing, roofing and interior trim and had a clear working knowledge of all the primary elements of residential construction. After high school, Jonathan attended Appalachian State University where he earned degrees in both finance and real estate. Upon graduating he became a licensed real estate broker and general contractor, moved to Charlotte and began working in sales and marketing for a national home builder.
In 1994, putting his knowledge and experience to practice, Jonathan started his own company, Chiott Custom Homes. He began building in the Lake Norman area, expanding to South Charlotte and eventually settled "in-town" in the Myers Park, Eastover, and Foxcroft neighborhoods.
Though the company was growing and had already earned a reputation for skill and integrity, Jonathan desired something more and different. He wanted the company to truly be known for building custom homes. Understanding that most new trends start on the West Coast first, including those associated with home building, Jonathan and his father routinely traveled to California to stay ahead of the competition. They noticed that West Coast builders were tearing down old houses in highly desirable neighborhoods and replacing them with beautiful new custom homes. This practice, called infill, was something not often seen in the Southeast at the time, making Chiott Custom Homes one of the first companies to successfully introduce this process into the Charlotte market.
Jonathan and his team build a wide range of styles and sizes, varying from cottage style bungalows to larger transitional and modern homes. While roughly half of these are built specifically for clients, the others are designed and built to sell, rarely lasting long on the market. As a third generation Realtor® and builder, along with over 25 years' experience in custom home building, Jonathan Chiott (pronounced "shot") and his team bring beautifully crafted new homes to the Charlotte landscape.
