As a self-motivated, conscientious real estate agent with a strong work ethic, Jonathan's underlying philosophy of “service first” means that his clients’ needs are paramount. For over two and a half decades, Jonathan has worked diligently to understand each client’s goals, exemplifying trust, transparency, and integrity. Working closely with buyers and sellers allows Jonathan to educate and inform them at every step of a transaction while keeping in mind both their immediate and long-term goals. His reputation for honest communication, active listening has made him one of the Bay Area's most trusted advisors.
Real estate is in Jonathan's blood. He learned this from his grandmother, Bertha Flemming, who started her own real estate company back in the 1950s, providing opportunities for her community to own property. All of her grandchildren spent time working with her, and Jonathan was no exception. He began his real estate career in high school. After graduating from the University of San Francisco, he earned his real estate broker’s license and returned to work with his grandmother.
Jonathan has used this philosophy of “service first” in Real Estate as well as in teaching. His years as a teacher were some of the most satisfying of his life. He was featured in the book Teacher’s Have it Easy: The Big Sacrifices and Small Salaries of America's Teachers as well as the film American Teacher. Some of the tools he learned as a teacher have helped Jonathan to be a better realtor®: mindful communication, strategic planning, and problem solving variant issues with varying principles.
Jonathan is very philantopic, choosing to give his time to several educational non-profits, including The Teacher Salary Project, which is dedicated to making sure teachers are paid a livable wage. He also has been on the board of 826 Valencia, a tutorial program supporting young writers. Additionally, Jonathan serves on the board of the San Francisco Coalition of Essential Small Schools where he has been honored for his service.
