Joseph Lagano

Born and raised in rural Cecil County, MD, there I met and married my wife, Debbie of 33 years and began raising our four children.

As a child and young adult, vacationing was always at the Delaware Beaches, mainly in the Bethany Beach area, where we spent our time on the beach as well as boating, fishing, and crabbing.

As time went on and our family grew, my wife and I decided that we wanted to raise our children on the Eastern Shore. While looking to move, we searched areas that were close to beach activities yet offered us space and privacy. We chose a 14-acre parcel in Gumboro, De which became our hobby farm. Our new property provided space for our children, horses and other farm animals, where we have now lived there for the past 22 years. As we continued to raise our children our family became involved in a number of groups and memberships; including the Delaware Appaloosa Horse Association, Delaware Appaloosa Youth Association, Sussex County De 4-H, as well as Delaware Military 4-H. My wife and I both have been 4-H leaders for a number of years with my wife being a leader for over 20 years.

With our children now grown, my wife and I continue to operate our hobby farm, and enjoy the beach atmosphere along with the amenities that the beach area offers, as well as the community that we have become a part of.

I have always tried to live my life honestly, and with others in mind, trying to do what’s right for myself, and my family while also considering the feelings and outcome of others. I believe that doing what is right for all involved should be a way of life and not a choice.
