An Atlanta native, Kathy Chapman grew up in Chastain Park, graduated from The Westminster Schools and The University of Georgia with a brief year at Vanderbilt University in between! Her early career involved special event planning and National Advertising Sales both for a gift magazine and The Atlanta Journal Constitution. After winning the AJC's National Advertising Salesperson of the Year Award for 1996 and with the birth of my second son, she decided to go into real estate. Her father, Edward Chapman, had been president of Chapman Realty Company, a commercial real estate firm, so she thought it a natural choice. That was twenty years ago!
Kathy has been married for thirty-three years to J. Frank Walker of Atlanta and has two sons who both graduated from Woodward Academy. Her older son, Jack Walker, graduated from Georgia Tech and is currently working in Washington, DC as a consultant for Accenture. Her younger son, Ben Walker, graduated from UGA, lives in Atlanta, and works for another consulting firm, Capgemini. Currently, she is serving on the Executive Committees at the Historic Oakland Foundation and the National Society of Colonial Dames in the State of Georgia. She also enjoys directing weddings as a member of the Wedding Guild at her church, The Cathedral of St. Philip.
Since growing up in Chastain Park, Kathy has lived in many parts of the city including Buckhead, Brookwood Hills, Ansley Park, and Morningside/Virginia Highlands. She has lived in detached, single family residences and now resides in a townhome community in the Wildwood/Springlake Park area near Bobby Jones Golf Course and Memorial Park with her husband and their two standard poodles, Gracie and Trinity. In fact, you have probably seen her with her poodles in tow walking up and down Howell Mill Road!
