Smyrna Home Trends

Smyrna is a popular Atlanta suburb located about 15 miles away from the city center. Smyrna's central location, abundant amenities, and wide variety of architectural styles are just a few reasons why the suburb has been a long-time favorite in the metro area. Smyrna is growing and has multiple plots of land for sale. The average home price is $286,600 and prices are expected to increase over the next few years. Smyrna has lofts and emerging mixed-use communities, but mainly consists of residential neighborhoods with townhomes, condos, and single-family houses. Williams Park is Smyrna's oldest neighborhood and has historic home styles like Victorian and Craftsman. Fontaine at Copper Lake provides lakefront views, while Barnes Mill is one of the city's largest tennis communities. Barnes Mill, like many Smyrna neighborhoods, has houses on large plots of land, along with luxury community amenities like lighted tennis courts, a playground, a pool, and a clubhouse.

Smyrna Attractions

Smyrna's most popular attractions rest just outside the city limits. Go shopping at Cumberland Mall, catch a show at the Coca-Cola Roxy, ride roller coasters at Six Flags Over Georgia, or explore the Battery Atlanta, one of the capital's newest mixed-use developments. The Battery is adjacent to Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves, and is filled with sports bars, restaurants, and more. Although residents enjoy living near some of Atlanta's favorite destinations, Smyrna has its own offerings as well. The town houses part of the Silver Comet Trail, a 61-plus mile trail that stretches to the border of Alabama. The Market Village acts as Smyrna's downtown district and hosts a variety of special events, including Taste of Smyrna.

Smyrna Schools

Smyrna has 23 public schools and six private schools. Smyrna is part of Cobb County Schools, one of the best school districts in metro Atlanta. Wheeler High School is just one of the public schools revered for its excellent academics. Smyrna is also near several colleges and universities. Kennesaw State University is 15 miles away, while Georgia State University, Georgia Institute of Technology, and the Atlanta University Center are about 16 miles away. Smyrna is also convenient to Gwinnett College Atlanta-Marietta and Kennesaw State University - Marietta Campus.

Commuting in Smyrna

Similar to many metro Atlanta areas, Smyrna is known to have longer commutes and congested traffic. The average one-way commute is about 26 minutes. However, Smyrna is located near three major interstates: I-20, I-285, and I-75. Cobb Linc provides buses across Cobb County and Downtown Smyrna. Although there isn't a MARTA subway station in Smyrna, residents have access to bus routes that travel into Atlanta and across Fulton and Dekalb counties. Rideshare services are also very popular in Smyrna.
