About Kay

Kay Johnson has lived in Oregon since 1977 and has delighted in the dramatic beauty of the Northwest. She has skied through woodlands and down mountains, snowshoed, cycled across the state, hiked numerous sections of the Pacific Crest Trail, canoed, rafted rivers, fished in streams, bays, and the Pacific Ocean, cooked in restaurants and over campfires, and slept beneath a canopy of stars.

Kay serves on the board of Theatre 33 and the Salem Main Street Association. The power of Windermere will undergird every phase of purchase or sale Kay conducts on your behalf. Kay recently helped my wife and I to navigate the complexities of the home-buying process, and we truly could not imagine a better experience than we had with Kay. Throughout the entire process, Kay was prompt, proactive, and professional. And, as if that weren’t enough, she is just an all-around nice person and pleasure to work with, and we now count her as a family friend. When I notified Kay late one Sunday night that we had found a house we’d like to look at, Kay immediately responded and scheduled a tour for the very next day. When we arrived at the house to discover that the house keys had been misplaced by another agent, K immediately set to work tracking down a spare set. Later, when it came time for us to make an offer, our lenders weren’t being very helpful or quick. But no matter! K immediately put us in touch with a lender she knew and trusted who helped us make a competitive (i.e., winning) offer, and did so on a truncated timeline to accommodate the extremely “hot” marketplace. All told, inside of four days, Kay helped us go from spotting the house on Zillow, to connecting with the lender, to submitting a brilliantly crafted offer, and finally, having our offer accepted. Kay’s timeliness and efficiency is truly amazing, and I am certain our offer was accepted because of Kay’s quick work, expertise, and people skills.

But wait, there’s more! Later, when closing hit a snag due to an issue with the seller’s estate, Kay was not satisfied to simply wait around for the seller, the seller’s agent, and the title company to sort everything out. Instead, Kay immediately set to work figuring out what the problem was, how to solve that problem, and coordinating with all the interested parties in order to keep the ball moving forward so we could close on the house. Throughout this entire process, Kay was always thinking several steps ahead—she always informed us what was coming up next so we were never surprised, and she consistently helped us to complete all necessary tasks well in advance of any deadlines. I tend to worry a lot—especially about things as substantial as buying a house—but Kay put my mind at ease, not only through her reassuring words but also through her diligence, dependability, attention to detail, and indefatigable work ethic. In short, we never had to worry about what was next or if we were doing everything correctly—Kay was always there to keep us informed, on track, and on time at every step.

Lastly, I would be remiss were I not to comment on Kay’s kind and personable demeanor. From the very start, Kay treated us as though we were already good friends. She also made it clear from the start that she was working for our best interests, and I never had any occasion to doubt it. Kay was always available, never too busy to take my call or to explain some part of the process to me, or to reschedule something when I had a conflict. She was constantly thinking about how to get the best deal for our family. She is also an all-around generous and thoughtful person: Just before Christmas, she brought gingerbread cookies for our family to decorate, which my daughter absolutely loved. And when we finally moved into our new house, Kay brought gifts, including the most delicious chocolate cake from a local confectioner!

If you are like me, the house-buying process can seem daunting and a bit confusing. There are so many different steps and potential pitfalls along the way. As such, it makes sense to have a knowledgeable guide that you trust to help you through the process. So if you are looking for a real estate agent to be your advocate and your guide, look no further than Kay--you will be in expert hands, and you will have the peace of mind that comes with knowing that your agent will adroitly help you throughout each step of the process with kindness, diligence, and professionalism. And, what’s more, you’ll probably come out of the experience with a fantastic new friend to boot!

We have been so pleased with Kay Johnson of Windermere Realty. As is typical of these last several years, the market has been hot so we were focused on moving very fast to obtain the property we found. We also had a tight window on the closing of the home we'd just sold. Kay was responsive at every stage of the transaction and a pleasure to work with. This woman's work ethic is AMAZING!

When I began looking for a home to purchase, I discovered nothing in the price range I chose was move-in ready. As COVID altered my pursuit, I looked online at listings and noticed there wasn't much out there I liked.
There I was, standing in a driveway, looking at a house I liked, not prepared and not pre-approved.

I had Angels in my corner that day. The listing agent of the house referred me to Kay Johnson. Kay showed me the property and explained the intricate details of today's transactions.

In an aggressive Seller's market, Kay's knowledge and guidance helped me find the right lender and make a Clean and Solid offer. That particular home was not to be mine, but...

what happened next totally blew my mind.

Kay never gave up on helping me find a home! She asked questions and offered solutions. She was patient and answered my many questions. She continued searching with us until we found that home, in the right price range, with the features that were the most important to my family.

Kay explained what would happen during every stage of the sales transaction. She conveyed the importance of the inspections that are available to protect prospective Buyers. She advocated for us every step of the way. She helped me navigate the home warranty claim process and worked directly with the warranty representative on our behalf when our stove stopped working. She still calls or texts to check on us every week. She told us we were her clients for life, and she is our friend for life.

Not only did Kay earn my trust as an advisor, she will forever have my gratitude and friendship.
