About Laura
Laura moved to Austin in 1976, after growing up in Croton–on-Hudson, New York and spending time in Gainesville, Florida, then Boulder, Colorado. She immediately fell in love with Austin and its incredibly vibrant music community. Her first job in Austin was at the legendary Armadillo World Headquarters, solidifying her involvement in the local music scene. After graduating from the University of Texas with a degree in radio, television and film production, she started a record label, Rabid Cat Records, partnering with a long time friend. They produced and distributed local punk rock bands and booked some of their shows. She also played bass guitar in two bands.
In the mid 1980's, she got her real estate license and began her career working at JB Goodwin’s office on Anderson Lane. Shortly after, she was recruited by Deanie Owens with Better Homes and Gardens. After completing her first two years as an agent, she got her Brokers license and went into business first with a partner, Happy Homes Leasing, and then independently.
Along the way, she acquired a few rental properties of her own. She also was featured in an episode of the TLC reality series “FLIP THAT HOUSE”. According to her family, this is the most hilarious house flipping episode ever aired.
Now 35 years into her real estate career, she's active in leasing, property management, and sales of residential property in the greater Austin area. Rather than specializing in a particular area, her focus is more on her clients - she goes where they need her. Because she's active in multiple aspects of real estate, she has a unique perspective on the market and its fluctuations.
She can help property owners decide when it's best to acquire more rentals or sell off rentals, prepare your property for the sales market, rehab newly acquired properties to get them ready to be rented, or transition our tenants into first time buyers!
