Mark and Stephen where literally the best. As a young first time homebuyer, I was nervous, overwhelmed and honestly pretty uneducated about the whole process. Mark and Stephen listened to what I wanted and even put up with my evening and weekend stress texting. They where brutally honest with their opinions on listings I sent them because of their experience and knowledge of the DC area, and I definitely felt that they were looking out for me. I felt truly safe in their hands, and I ended up with a fabulous condo that met all of my needs. They worked so hard to negotiate and fight to get the best deal for me, and I can not adequately express my appreciation for their guidance and support in finding my home. Even after I was under contract and looking to redo the floors, Mark went to the floor store and looked at flooring while I was out of the country. I'm so grateful I found Mark and Stephen and I could not recommend them more.

Thanks to Scott, we received multiple offers including one that was well above what we had initially anticipated.

Once we were ready to begin the house hunt as buyers, Scott made the process so much fun with his great sense of humor and amazing aesthetic eye. We never felt rushed and were wowed by his memory and intuitiveness – he read our responses to properties and masterfully tailored his approach. When we did land on a house that we loved, he made the negotiation and closing processes incredibly seamless and easy. He has a clear grasp on the competitiveness of the market and what it ultimately takes to put together a winning offer, while still protecting the interests of the buyer. In general, we were so impressed by his responsiveness, and willingness to go above and beyond. He scouted areas independently for us, looked into the new-build process before we found our home, resolved issues with utility account transfers, did research on contractors for our post-closing renovations, and even brought us packages accidentally delivered to our former address!

Bottom line – Scott is amazing at his job, an absolute joy to work with, and an all-around awesome human being. We always felt very secure that he had our best interests at heart, and we would enthusiastically recommend him to any and everyone! The perfect realtors ! I absolutely can not praise nor recommend the Rutstein Group enough; they were so incredibly kind and helpful, and a pleasure to work with. Mark and Stephen made the home-buying process as easy and painless as possible, going out of their way to be accommodating and informative. They gave me referrals to all the other parties I needed to finish the sale, transported me and my mother around, answered questions and stupid emails at all hours, and even went back and measured the unit for me so I could order furniture ahead of time while I lived half the country away.

I was always afraid of looking into purchasing a home, as it is a large and tedious step to take in ones life, but had I known about The Rutstein Group, I would have done this a long time ago.

Everyone on the team is filled with great information about the local homeowners market and the homeowner process. Not once did I question their judgement or guidance. They were very prompt and and responsive to my needs (mind you I have been working with them for 6+ months to find the place I wanted to purchase) and answered any weird first time buyer question I presented. It honestly was the easiest thing I have done all 2021.

If anyone is ever looking for a great team, who knows their stuff and makes it a seamless process, this is the team. If I'm looking to move ever again, I will for sure use this team.

Mark and the team are amazing to work with. I relocated here to DC from Philadlphia, they did such a great job. The listened to my laundry list of requirements, offer some expert advice with suggestions of purchasing a condo in the middle of Covid. Their research and suggestions of neighborhoods was very helpful, once the new pad was found their expertises moved it along quickly, even settle 2 weeks early. My fiancé and I worked with Brittany Ryan to purchase a house in Silver Spring in January 2021. As a first-time homebuyer, I was unsure of what to expect regarding the DC-area market, how to make a competitive offer, and realistic timelines to buy. Also, I didn't know how to choose a good house, the right house. Or what impact the pandemic was going to have on our home search.

Brittany was knowledgeable, confident, and made every step of the process a breeze. She knows this market well, could speak right away to comps and trends in the area, and really had a toolkit of options for us as we discussed our offers. We were confident in the offers we submitted because we felt informed and had peace-of-mind that there wasn't something we left out that could have made our offers stronger.

When we started, we didn't know where we wanted to buy. It was a journey across DC and MD suburbs! Brittany spent a lot of time with us visiting house-after-house. I never felt like we were burdening her, or pressure to make a decision or put in an offer. From the day we started working with her (which began with a promptly scheduled Zoom call), she remained responsive and available. She graciously responded to our myriad texts about next steps or asking her for advice. When we wanted to visit a house, she prioritized taking us to see it -- always within 24 hours. One day, we spent the whole Friday afternoon touring with Brittany and had already parted ways. On the way home, we drove by a house we saw online -- "since we were already out there." Sitting in our car outside the house, we thought, we should see this! We texted Brittany who literally got back in the car and came to meet us. It ended up being the house we bought.

For those looking for a realtor in the DC/Takoma Park/Silver Spring area, I highly recommend Brittany -- for all the reasons above and also -- she's professional, personable, lighthearted and funny, and she'll keep your spirits high. We couldn't be more happy with our house or our experience working with Compass!

Her masterful communication skills, extensive knowledge of the area, easy-going personality, fast response time, and astonishing level of expertise helped us to snatch up our dream home in a highly competitive market that had multiple offers just after a couple of weeks of search. Brittany manages to hold your hand throughout the process and be your friend, but at the same time never crosses the line of highly professional attitude and always has your best interests at heart. I've worked with Mark to buy two different houses and sell one other. He is absolutely fantastic and I highly recommend him. First he's fun, and buying a home should be fun. But second, he knows his stuff. When I first put an offer in on my Capitol Hill row home there ended up being a problem with the title. Mark and his team provided great advice and sorted through the mess, getting me a fantastic deal on the house. Mark did a great job helping us sell our condo and buy our house in 2015 so we went to him when we wanted to dip our toes into the market. Before Covid, we were considering upgrading to a larger place but were in no hurry. After Covid, there was added urgency but we were still being picky. Unfortunately, being very fickle buyers only makes your realtor's life harder. Add to that a global pandemic that has oddly led to a seller's market in DC, I imagine we as buyers had to be a realtor's nightmare. Mark and Tom were fantastic every step of the way. As a first time home buyer I was nervous about the process and they made everything so easy for me. They took care of so many details which I sincerely appreciated (setting up appointments, putting me in contact with a great lender, arranging for a home inspection, etc.) I can't say enough positive things about Mark and Tom. They were amazing - patient and knowledgeable, friendly and fun, respectful and warm. I really enjoyed the whole process and wouldn't consider doing it again without them. They were always responsive and super helpful- even late the night I took possession when my keys didn't work. They were always calm and confident about the steps and decisions to be made and that in turn made me feel calm and confident. They truly were perfect.
