Marquetta Bryant was taught perseverance at an early age growing up in SE, DC. She was born in Washington, DC to a teenage mother. Determined her children were not going to be products of their environments her mother made sure she attended private school in elementary, a magnet math and science school for middle school, and the prestigious Duke Ellington School of the Arts for high school where Marquetta honed her creative writing skills. Marquetta attended college for film in Miami, FL for a few months as her dream was to become a film director. It quickly became clear that college out of state was just something Marquetta and her mother could not afford. Marquetta packed her dreams into her suitcases and trekked back to DC where she found a job at a pension fund and enrolled in Trinity University where she studied Mass Communications.
In April 2009 during the recession, Marquetta was laid off. During this time, she also found out she was pregnant with her first child. During this time, she moved out of her apartment and into a home with others in an effort to save money. In October 2009 nine months pregnant Marquetta found herself homeless as the people she was living with were evicted by their landlord. Sitting in a hotel room with her fiancé, all her worldly possessions, and a baby on the way Marquetta had a choice to make. So instead of sitting in the devastation that had become her life she got up and did something about it. For a week she would get up and browse craigslist, local newspapers, and other online forums for homes for rent. After a week of rejections, she finally found her yes after door-knocking in a heavily rented neighborhood. After receiving the yes, she researched lease terms, and then she wrote and negotiated the lease for her family.
After her success, she started helping others in her situation with limited credit and income to find places to live. Landlords would pay her a full month's rent to find and screen reliable tenants. Then one day Marquetta met a real estate agent who handed her a flyer for real estate school and changed her life. Using her last fifty dollars that month she enrolled not knowing how much that sacrifice was going to mean to her later on.
In February 2011 Marquetta received her MD Real estate license. In August she was contacted by a former classmate to buy their first home. It was the only home she sold during her first year in Real Estate. Not one to give up she started to work for a few local real estate agents in MD as their assistant so that she could learn the business. In 2014 Marquetta’s family relocated to Atlanta, GA. In 2015 while Marquetta was looking for a job her husband told her “Use the real estate license and work for yourself”. Reluctantly Marquetta agreed. In October 2015 her very first GA client knocked on her door. Marquetta went on to sell over two million in real estate in just two and a half short months without knowing anyone in GA outside of her husband and children.
Marquetta has been a top-producing Agent in Atlanta since October 2015. She has been featured in several different forms of media including WSBTV channel 2 news. She was nominated and won out of over seventy-thousand agents for an ethics in action award from her previous brokerage. She has helped hundreds of families buy and sell real estate. She owned and operated a team where she helped other agents change the lives of their families through their real estate business. In December 2021 Marquetta left one of the largest real estate companies in the world to open Fresh Vision Realty Group. Marquetta hopes to use her voice and company to continue to affect change in the lives of people through real estate. Marquetta is a member of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers whose mission is to bring awareness to, protect, and increase African American homeownership.
As the Broker and Owner of Fresh Vision Realty Marquetta is hoping to find the next person whose life she can help change through Real Estate as it has done for hers.
