In 1987 Mary's husband John started a new marketing company in Tampa, OKRA, and Mary reluctantly made the move from New York. Mary credits the city's small-town Southern charm and big-city lifestyle with helping her make the transition. Still, she says the experience gave her a profound appreciation of how emotional relocation can be for all members of the family.
Having been a transplant herself, Mary knows the importance of community involvement and participation in charitable events and activities as a way of getting to know your new "hometown." She has had the honor to chair the Patrons Committee of Pavilion (Tampa's premier white-tie fundraiser for the Tampa Museum of Art) and as co-chair for CITY the TMA's premier luxury event; and served as former President of Tampa Newcomers, she is a member of: The Red Cross Angels, Florida Orchestra Guild, University Club, and Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club, the Culbreath Isles Club, and Women in the Know Book Club.
