About Mary

Mary understands the power of a well-designed home firsthand. She has spent the past decade creating one of her own, a Brooklyn oasis that reflects her own particular brand of urban charm. Mary’s eye for aesthetics began taking shape early on. Born into a family of artists, she has always been drawn to things that are beautifully crafted by people with a passion for creating—a description that now applies to the way in which Mary approaches the real estate process. Or as she puts it: “I’m genuinely interested in helping people live who they are.”

In addition to her creative roots, Mary’s clients value her solid foundation in business and design. Prior to Corcoran, she spent nearly ten years honing sharp instincts for both as a multi-disciplinary designer, including her role as the owner-operator of Carpenter Hill, a successful Brooklyn-based artisanal home goods brand she founded in 2015. As Carpenter Hill's leader, Mary grew the company’s e-commerce and marketing platforms from scratch and curated a collection of home and lifestyle goods from more than 100 small American workshops.

Launching a small business and building a brand from the ground up turned Mary into a strong negotiator, a skilled dealmaker, and an expert in marketing. She applies these strengths and her penchant for design with thoughtful diplomacy to every real estate transaction that she facilitates in order to help clients find homes they love as much as she loves her own.

Mary also draws on her design expertise to help her clients imagine a creative but pragmatic sense of a home’s possibilities and what it takes to realize them. “My interior design background helps me translate the subtleties of my client's personalities into their ideal physical spaces,” she explains.

In addition to running Carpenter Hill, Mary’s pre-real estate roles also include running the photography department for Condé Nast Entertainment. As one of the company’s original hires, Mary was tasked with ensuring consistent visual branding for both digital and print content. She also built a roster of talented photographers in accordance with evolving production needs while overseeing the operations, post-production, and asset management for dozens of monthly shoots.
