About Matt

Matt is a Charlotte native, former Marine and East Carolina University graduate. This pirate started Grandfather Homes in 2006, witnessed the pending market decline, and fought to seek action – rebuilding projects all over North Carolina that were left for ruin on account of loan defaults. These restoration projects were completed side by side with their signature custom builds to batten the hatches and keep the ship afloat! Grandfather Homes not only weathered the storm but grew exponentially thanks to Matt’s governance. He focused on their niche and realized their best asset was taking a seemingly ordinary lot or plan and customizing its’ features to accentuate the highest and best use. Grandfather Homes sold its first speculative home for over $2 million in 2014 and its first speculative home for over $3 million in 2017. Matt realized the vibrancy of the high-end market and continues to build several $1M+ spec homes per year.
