About Matt

Greenville is Matt’s hometown; he knows it like his own backyard, his own personal soccer field.

Matt grew up in the Augusta Road area, where his parents still live. After completing a bachelor’s in Business at Mars Hill University, where he also played soccer, he earned a second degree at Furman University in Health and Exercise Science Education.

Soccer has always been Matt’s passion. He has coached everything from club soccer all the way up to NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s soccer. His commitment as a player and later as a coach has honed his expertise in communication, organization, attention to detail -- not to mention winning.

Matt has been teaching elementary Physical Education since 2007, all while coaching soccer, too. His wife, Melissa, also grew up in Greenville, and she owns Dear Lissie Photography. They live in the Parkins Mill/Gower Estates area of Greenville, where they are raising three bumptious kids (some of whom also love soccer). Together, they have bought, and built, and renovated, and sold four homes in the Greenville area – they’ve pretty much seen it all, and Joan Herlong was always their guide through each process. When Matt decided to apply his business and coaching skills to real estate, there was only one company he considered: Joan Herlong & Associates Sotheby’s International Realty.

Matt knows what it means to be on the receiving end of “Division I” client service, and he delivers the same attentive, pro-active expertise for his clients. (He signed his first listing on his first day, in the Augusta Road area, and it went under contract on its first day on the market, too.)

Matt is your “Nocks Door Neighbor” – whether you are buying or selling, give him a buzz and he always answers or calls you right back. As he coaches his Clients through the process of buying and/or selling, Matt’s GOAL is to maintain focus on the Clients’ best interests, long after the final whistle.

Matt earned two honors from Joan Herlong & Associates Sotheby’s International Realty in 2020. He was a member of President’s Circle for doing more than $5 million in total sales, In addition, he saw the highest increase in sales percentage, which earned him the Most Improved Award.
