In July 2024, I accepted a new job outside the Bay Area and decided to sell my townhome. Mike was referred to me by my relocation company, and he exceeded my expectations from the start. He promptly responded to my inquiry and scheduled a phone call to discuss my needs. The very next day, he met me in person at my home to evaluate the property and provide a detailed market analysis.

Mike came prepared with recommendations for repairs and an estimated timeline to get the property market-ready. He was transparent about the current market conditions, acknowledging it was slow but expressing confidence in the sale. To ensure I had a clear understanding, we reviewed recent sales together, including comparable homes nearby that had been on the market for an extended time. Impressively, Mike went above and beyond by personally reaching out to the listing agents of those homes to gather insights into their situations.

He suggested that listing the property in early spring 2025 might result in a better sale price and even offered assistance with renting the home on a short-term lease in the meantime. Based on his advice, I decided to rent my home for six months. Mike didn't stop there—he sent potential renters my way and followed up regularly to ensure I had secured a tenant. He also kept me updated on market conditions and recent sales.

Overall, I found Mike to be honest, transparent, and genuinely dedicated to doing what’s best for his clients. His professionalism and commitment to going above and beyond made the process much smoother and more manageable.

Mike is great! I'm a 1st time homebuyer so naturally the whole process was stressful but Mike was always there to not only answer any questions I had but also gave me feedback and opinions on relevant things, which gave me more knowledge and in turn helped me decide on things better.

He works hard on finding you listings that could work for you as well as making time and being available to go see those listings with you.

To me, I thought a real estate buyer agent only helps with the buying process and that's it. But Mike actually helped me a lot more post-buy for things such as helping ensure I have my electric, water, etc. in place. He has a team that he can connect you with for any repairs or renovations as well such as painting, flooring, etc. It's really convenient if you're somehow who's overwhelm with all the choices for those services. You don't have to but it's a good start with the team he can connect you with :)
I don't know if this is the standard for a real estate buyer agent, but if it isn't, it should!

Michael is an experienced realtor who helped us purchase our current home and sell our older home too. For him it's all about how he can shoulder most of your burden of moving from one house to another, be it fixing the house before putting it on market or upgrading it before moving in a new home. He helped us in numerous other ways than just with the sale and purchase of our homes. He has a wide network of professionals who can help with all sorts of things, above all he has been working in the Bay for decades so knows most realtors and can get off market deals to the table. All in all, Michael Murphy is a great professional to work with for all your real estate needs. He takes very good care for his clients and makes it less stressful. Would highly recommend him.

I recently accepted a job outside of the Bay Area and needed to sell my condo. Based on reviews I read online, I decided to meet with Mike. Right away I could tell that he knew what he was talking about and that we would work well together. He recommended that I paint the entire interior, fix some baseboards and replace a few lights. He estimated that these improvements, along with staging and cleaning, would cost me $10k. I was skeptical about the estimate, but agreed. Mike took care of everything. He had everything on the list completed within a week and it actually cost me slightly less than Mike estimated! And my condo looked amazing! The listing went live, and within a week, we had four offers, all of which were higher than I had expected. I was thrilled! Along the way, we had some issues with my HOA’s poor record keeping and with the buyer’s lender. I was also working with a relocation company for my new job, which added extra complexity. Once again, Mike took care of everything. The whole process was a breeze. I’m so glad I decided to work with Mike, and I’d recommend him to anyone who is looking to sell or buy. My only regret is not doing the improvements years ago!

Michael Murphy was instrumental in selling our rental property and then finding us another to buy. Michael’s marketing strategies, knowledge of the San Jose housing market, attention to detail, communication and negotiating skills created a
successful ending.

Michael immediately started working with us to sell our rental property which soldquickly. His knowledge of renter’s rights was critical in ensuring both the tenant and our rights were upheld. Once we received a contract on the property, we moved into buyer mode. The home we were buying was to rent to our son and his family who live in San Jose. Michael worked with our son and his wife to view neighborhoods and then homes, while communicating with us about the market and homes he was showing them. It took time for our son and his wife to know
what they wanted, finding one within our budget, and putting all the pieces together. It was no easy task, but his constant communication with us and our son was paramount in creating a cooperative and positive experience.

Mike was our agent on our first rental property, now this property, and if we should sell/buy again, he will again be our agent.

I highly recommend Michael Murphy. He was our agent in buying a property and we really had a great experience with him.

He is quite knowledgeable with the market and the technical aspects of the buildings so he shared many tips and tricks about the properties in our journey to find our place. I enjoyed working with him because he brought his honest technical opinion to the game and didn't rush us to buy a property. It happened several times that we were interested in a property and we were ready to submit an offer, but he was able to see the stuff that we missed and asked us to not move forward with those properties.

He was also quite helpful after closing the deal. He helped us to find contractors that we needed to take care of some stuff in our new home and made sure that everything went well. And last, but not least, he is fun!

The time came for us to put our house up for sale so we could move closer to our extended family, but we had little experience with local realtors. My wife and I are retired teachers, and we talked to a former student. She recommended the Sereno Realtors in general and their agent Mike Murphy in particular. I went to Mike to sell my town home. during our first meeting, he said outright to me "I can get you 1mil+ for what you have. Or we can repaint the inside and replace the rugs and show it properly. I think we can get you 1.2m if you do that". I trusted him implicitly because he knows his "stuff". He handled all the subcontractors, the staging - EVERYTHING. Final result -1.32mil sale price. My godmother needed to be placed in assisted living. She had no income except for her house so that needed to be sold. We needed to find her a realtor that was reliable and trustworthy so that’s why we picked Michael Murphy from the Sereno Group. Mike helped us every step of the way. He was very respectful to what was going on but at the same time gave us his honest Irish opinion on things. He had a great team of contractors, handymen, painters, gardeners and even a fabulous estate salesperson who helped us get the cluttered house emptied and ready to be worked on. When the house was finally finished and put on the market, we received several above market offers. Michael Murphy sold our rental property (duplex). He was on top of the process the entire way. When I asked him for consideration for our renters he went out of his way to accommodate. He ordered the pre-inspections with an honest reliable team. Some work on the structure was performed prior to selling the property which he hired and followed through to completion. We can't say enough about working with Mike Murphy. This is the 2nd time we've used Mike to sell our home, and our third time we've used him to purchase a home. Mike is that type of realtor that you hope you get - on the ball, quick to respond, proactive, and pushes hard to get us the best deal whether we were buying or selling. He's very patient and willing to explain how the process worked from start to finish, answering any questions we had No matter how small they seemed (which after a few times you think we'd remember but it's surprising how much you forget after a few years in between buying \ selling your home). He had great references for any renovations that needed to be done, and All the contractors did excellent work at a good price (saving us a lot of money compared to trying to find contractors on our own and then take the gamble of finding out if they were good or not). One of the things we like most, was how open and honest he was with us. He wasn't trying to just sell our home or get us to buy one, he genuinely cared about making sure we got the best deal when we sold and that we found a house we loved when we bought. Especially the last house we bought with him in March 2021 in the Bay area. The inventory was low pretty much everywhere and housing prices were skyrocketing, so the house is we could afford we're getting less and less desirable. But even in these crazy pandemic times he was still able to find us the perfect house that we loved at a price that was in our budget! And his professional and friendly personality made working with him and enjoyable experience each time. We would highly recommend Mike as your realtor if you want an experienced, highly driven realtor who will get your home sold and/ or find you your new home quickly, and make the entire experience of pleasurable one. We will definitely be using Mike the next time we need to sell our house or buy a new one!

Mike Murphy is a superstar, plain and simple. We had a complex sale that he continually found ways to make simple for us. The city had the house classified incorrectly, and Mike got it fixed. We were selling remotely, and Mike got us past every stumbling block with ease. The house needed carefully chosen work to present well, without costing us more than it was worth to invest, and Mike found a perfect combination of contractors to get the job done.

Even more than all the effort he put in to keep things smooth for us, we appreciated his experience and guidance. Without being the last bit pushy, he gently steered us to the right decisions a dozen times (probably more) when we would have gone in the wrong direction.

Most importantly, he got us the results we wanted. The market was taking a panic dive at the exact time we were selling, but Mike found the right buyers, and negotiated the critical details of the optimal deal for us.

My family and I recently had the pleasure to work with Michael Murphy while we went through the process of selling our family home. The hard work, dedication, and professionalism that Michael showed over the 6 month process was above and beyond anything I could ask for. The home was in our family for over 40 years. After my mom passed away in November of 2018, my brother and I knew that it was time to let another family enjoy the house that we grew up in. Sadly it took about 3-4 months to get the house "ready for the public"; my mom was a hoarder, and there needed to be a few "changes" to a 40+ year old home. Mr. Murphy recommended that if we did some modernization upgrades, that we would significantly increase the homes value. The 50k that we invested in these necessary changes to our home most likely increased the asking price by about 200k! When the house was ready to be sold, there was only 1 weekend of "Open House" needed. There were at least 30 families/groups that walked through our home each day!

Michael's amazing talent and personal detail to this process was truly remarkable. When all things were said and done, our family home sold for almost 100k over the listing price!

I highly recommend Mr. Michael Murphy and the Sereno Group for your Realty needs. It was a difficult process for my family and I to say good-bye to a place that we called home for over 40 years.
