Misturat Ganiyu

Misturat Ganiyu (mis-TOO-raht gah-NEE-yoo), affectionately known as “Missy,” was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago.

Missy has earned her bachelor’s degree in Communications-Journalism at Governors State University. Journalism fit well with her curious nature. Once her curiosity is piqued, her next instinct is to research everything! Journalism also showcased her talent for asking good questions and making sure her interviewees’ message was communicated clearly.

So how did Missy go from the South Side to Champaign? She was a remote real estate pre-license student in the Illinois REALTORS® class that Matt teaches. She got her real estate license at the same time this position opened. She fearlessly embraced trading Chicago for Champaign, welcoming the change and opportunity, even though this was not what she had imagined when she first decided to pursue real estate.

She brings her warm personality and ferocious attention to detail to her field work with clients, both buyers and sellers. She also serves as the team’s community outreach liaison—a role focused on increasing home ownership within historically marginalized communities. In particular, she welcomes the opportunity to play an important role in closing the persistent gap in the Black home ownership rate.

Over the years, Missy has volunteered for numerous non-profit organizations, including The Glass Slipper Project in Chicago, the Greater Chicago Food Depository, and Share Your Soles. Her heart for community service long predates this job.
