About Mj

A former professional NFL athlete, MJ McFarland brings his team-oriented attitude from the football field to the world of residential real estate. Born in Watertown, New York, he is no stranger to relocating. He spent his childhood moving from city to city due to his father serving in the U.S. Military, with most of his upbringing in Texas. He credits his appreciation for the real estate industry to his first-hand understanding of the moving process.

His high-level athletic skills earned him a full scholarship to play football for The University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated three years later with a Bachelor of Science. His eligibility concluded as a DI football player and MJ considers himself blessed to have had the opportunity to take his talents to the NFL where he played for The Philadelphia Eagles, The New York Jets, and The Dallas Cowboys from 2016 to 2018. This is when his passion to understand finances really started to grow. MJ wanted to learn and understand how money works; not only how to make it, but more importantly, how to save it!

Throughout MJ’s career, he experienced injuries and many other factors that come along with professional sports, leading him to explore new opportunities outside of football for his post-athletic career. With his entrepreneurial mindset and vast network, MJ was driven to create and be a part of multiple companies. MJ has been a licensed realtor since his time in the NFL and previously worked for his company, “The MJ Group, LLC” in the Austin, Texas area. His dedication in helping individuals buy, rent, sell, and invest in properties is one he is excited to pursue at Moreland Properties.

When he is not out in the field showing houses or writing up contracts, he is following his passion of helping friends and clients become more educated about their finances. In 2019, MJ proceeded to partner with Strategic Capital to offer education that serves his clients, helping them take control of their personal finances.
