Phil spent a lot of time with Rhonda and me, mostly because being from the cold North, I couldn’t wrap my mind around ‘slab foundations’ and no basements! And heat pumps!
Not only did Phil have to acquaint us with the culture of the South, the tastes in food and building methods but we were asking him to find us a house that just doesn’t exist in temperate climes.
He was able to lead us to an under-construction home and spent the time it took to explain the ins and outs of the South until we were comfortable with our purchase.
Not only did Phil help us purchase this beautiful and lovely home, but, 3 years later I was off to Aiken, SC for a different job and Phil was the natural choice to sell our home in Burgaw.
We were in Aiken before our Burgaw home sold, so Phil made weekly inspections of our property to make sure all was right and gave us great peace of mind. Burgaw had a wind storm and Phil found that our large Butterfly Bush (6’ tall and 8’ around) had split and was on the ground in two halves. He pulled them back together and bound them up and it did recover. Now that was something only a friend would do!
When the house sold, Phil organized a moving party. We had to move the remainder of our things to Aiken and only had the 2-day weekend. Phil showed up and directed the loading of the U-Haul 25’ truck and carrying furniture as neighbors and former co-workers carried our household out of the house.
