Born and raised in Chicago, Bekka graduated from Indiana University and embarked on a fifteen-year career in advertising and corporate marketing, with a focus on strategic communication. She was successful in developing and implementing media strategies for leading brands such as Tyson, Citizens Bank, Amtrak and Fidelity Investments. Bekka and her husband, a partner in a commercial real estate brokerage, settled in Newton in 2011 and are active members of the Newton community, with two children in the Newton Public Schools. And while Bekka misses her deep-dish pizza and Chicago style hot dogs, she is now a fully converted Bostonian.
