About Scott

Scott McFarland, a native of Mount Desert Island, returned to MDI after college to start his 35-year career in education, both as a classroom teacher and for the last 14 years of this span, as the principal of the nationally recognized Mount Desert Elementary School in Northeast Harbor.

As an educator Scott has earned the friendship, trust and respect of generations of MDI families and as a private yacht captain for 32 years, Scott is well known by the summer community as well. Driven by a strong belief in community, Scott continues to serve on the board of a variety of local community organizations that play a key role towards this end.

In his spare time Scott is an avid golfer, loves to spend time on the waters of MDI and work his property in Pretty Marsh. Scott’s thoughts on his new career; “I see the role of a real estate broker as a match maker between the clients and a property that fits their needs, hopes or dreams. A relationship built on trust, honesty and loyalty that should never be taken for granted.”
