About Scott
Scott is a Native Nevadan. Born in Incline Village and the youngest of 4 boys, his family moved to a small ranch in the Carson Valley in 1969.
Scott graduated from Douglas High School in 1980 and obtained his real estate license in 1988. Prior to that, he worked as a chef and in various modes of construction before realizing that real estate was an inherent and natural fit. His father, Ray Smith, was a planning consultant and was the original developer of Incline Village. Ray was also the first Douglas County Planning Director, creating the first master plan for Douglas County. His oldest brother was a contractor, and Scott’s first job in real estate was working for another brother’s real estate brokerage firm.
Scott’s accomplishments in the real estate business include being President of the Sierra Nevada Board of Realtors, President of the Carson Valley Sertoma Club, and President of the Marla Bay Protective Association, a small lakefront community at Lake Tahoe, NV. He is a graduate of the Realtor Institute and is a Certified Residential Specialist, among many other real estate designations. He has developed many subdivisions and sold thousands of properties over his 30+-year career (so far!), and in the last 28 years, he has been a top agent at RE/MAX Realty Affiliates. He joined Intero in 2019, bringing a high level of local knowledge of water rights, development, construction, and sales that few possess.
Scott is married to his wife, Piper and has four children and 7 grandchildren. His love of Nevada shows in his passion for Lake Tahoe and the back country of the state. Boating, camping, golfing, and exploring are his escape from it all.
“Growing up at Lake Tahoe and on a ranch in the Carson Valley has been a life that most people can only dream of. I have a passion for Lake Tahoe and am well versed in the rules and regulations that govern it, and life on the ranch taught me the value of hard work, the complexities of water rights, and many other intricacies of living in a ranch country. That, coupled with my years in the restaurant business, the many developments I have built, and the work experiences learned from my father and older brothers, have instilled a level of customer service that has served me well and made me a successful real estate professional that I am. But most importantly, I love what I do, and I never grow tired of helping people realize their dream of living in the area. Ultimately, it’s about the people and going above and beyond the call of duty for each and every client.”
Nevada Blue…it’s an attitude!
