Shane was a huge help with my relocation to the Chicago suburbs. When I first reached out, I was initially searching in the Aurora area, but when I chose to move my search a bit further East, he took it in stride and found me a number of homes that matched my specific criteria. I did not have many opportunities to come to the area, but when I did, Shane was able to fill the day with visits to multiple properties, all while teaching me and telling me stories about the various cities and neighborhoods we visited. Despite the COVID pandemic and a housing shortage, Shane made our first-time home buying process easy and enjoyable. He was our go-to man who was able to find the house that fit not just all of our wants, but also our needs. Being a first time home buyer, you hear horror stories about realtors, but Shane quickly proved those myths wrong. He quickly got to know my fiancé and I both on a professional and personal level to the point that we could walk into a potential house and within seconds he knew if the walkthrough was going to be 3 minutes or 30 minutes long. Shane definitely made the buying process simple and easy and explained thoroughly every step of the way. He truly loves what he does and you can tell that he genuinely is looking out for his clients. Numerous times through our walk-throughs he would point out the things that most realtors wouldn’t including potential problems or reasons why we might want to look at different houses. We are truly sad to have found a house because we no longer get to spend our weekends going house-to-house with Shane. Shane helped us sell a house after we moved out of state and we are so grateful that we were referred to him. The house was used as a rental property for years and obviously needed a lot of TLC before it was ready to be listed. Zillow house hunting commencing in summer 2020 connected me to Shane Halleman of John Greene Realty. When first seeing a couple homes I could tell Shane was legit. He pointed out stuff I wouldn't have even known to look for. He could answer any real estate or even mortgage related question. His years of experience were evident.

Fast forward a few months to picking a newer townhouse. He shepherded the deal through very meticulously and kept me well informed before, during, and even after the sale.

Having not purchased a home Shane took the time to answer my questions.he responded very fast to my text and emails. His secretary is also great! They set me up with a lawyer who also explained the whole process. I felt very comfortable signing the papers in the end. Having looked into mortgage brokers Shane had me get in touch with Wintrust. They were great as well. My whole process was smooth and o couldn’t have asked for better service from everyone involved. My fiancée and I were matched with Shane on Zillow when we decided it was time to look for a starter home. He worked with us through Summer 2020.

We knew Shane was an expert in the western suburbs of Chicago based on his previous Zillow reviews, but reading that is not the same as seeing in action. We were first-time buyers and we visited numerous listings from Naperville to Orland Park. Shane had a story to tell about the history of every neighborhood we visited! Often times he would compare the home we were visiting to previous listings or sales he brokered in the neighborhood. Because of his expertise in western suburban real estate, he was able to gauge how reasonable a listing price was before pulling comparable listings. This helped us feel safe as first-time buyers.

As first-time buyers, our knowledge of real estate was limited to what you could learn on HGTV, but Shane helped us through every step of the way. He started with a general overview of what buying a home would entail, and walked us through the fine details of the process in baby steps as needed. When we were ready to put an offer in on a listing, he drafted up a sales contract and walked us through every single line of the contract to ensure that we understood exactly what we were signing.

When we engaged a seller, Shane made sure we were ready for the "hurry up and wait" that came in the following weeks and helped us keep track of all of our deadlines and payments. We could rest easy that nothing would be forgotten.

𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔
In the midst of COVID-19 we were competing with many other buyers in our price-range. It felt like every listing we put an offer on was swept out from under us by a faster offer, or a full-cash offer. Shane matched the market with speed of his own. When we were interested in seeing a property, Shane had us there as early as the same day. When we wanted to see comparable listings, Shane had them for us the same day. And when we wanted to put in an offer, the contract was drafted and submitted to the seller the same day. If Shane wasn't as fast as he was, we may not have been able to purchase during the quarantine. He's extremely active, and keeps pace with market/economic changes.

𝑵𝒆𝒈𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑺𝒌𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒔
From the first listing we visited, Shane was extraordinarily transparent about the quality of the home. He helped us see past the typical selling points (I.e. new kitchen/bathrooms) and pointed us toward the "bones" of a property (I.e. age of HVAC, quality of renovation, age of water heater, signs of damage). He made sure we knew what each property was worth and what our potential costs would be before move-in. He didn't want us paying for a money sink, and was in constant contact with our buyer's agent to get any problems addressed.

When the process got sidetracked by mortgage company delays (not Shane's fault) he was quick to give us updates and dig deeper to find out exactly what was happening. Shane is knowledgeable, patient, professional, insightful, and well humored. I had a LOT of questions and an even longer list of "needs" for my first home purchase.
