About Terence

Prior to moving to the USA, Terence lived & worked in Hong Kong – an unforgettable place - a crossroads of international business and cultures, working with many people - for some Hong Kong was a home of many generations, while for others it was just one stop on their life journey. Terrence’s work required proficiency in Cantonese and speaking it became part of his daily life. He later had an opportunity to undertake 2 years of full-time study in written and spoken Chinese (Mandarin). He now works hard to retain these skills in English speaking California!

After 13 years of working within the confines of HK’s Civil Service, an opportunity came along to move to California and join the International Sales Division of ROLM Corporation – an iconic Silicon Valley Company. Over the next decade and more, Terrence sold large telecommunications systems throughout Asia – mostly in the Chinese speaking countries of China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

Among the people he met and worked with at ROLM was Paula. They married in 1986 and 2 daughters joined them over the next 4 years.

After leaving ROLM Corporation he joined Octel Communications and took an overseas assignment in Singapore, providing our two young daughters with a rich cultural experience for the next 3 years. From Singapore, his sales territory included all of Asia Pacific from India to the west and down southeast to Australia & New Zealand.
Terrence returned to California shortly before the Millennium and settled back into life in his hometown of Los Gatos.
Eventually Terrence bade farewell to the corporate life and tech sales to become a Mortgage Broker and in the process obtained both NMLS and Realtor certifications. I also spent some time working as a Farmers Insurance Agent for which he needed to become licensed. Although he eventually left these careers behind to sell real estate, there are few real estate transactions, which do not involve both financing and insurance so the experience and knowledge he gained from the years in those industries helps him to provide a higher level of service to his clients.

Helping clients make the significant life moves in the buying and selling of their homes gives Terrence great happiness. He loves his job!
