TIFINIE CAPEHART is a Realtor with COMPASS RE, an Urban Planning Consultant with Tifinie Capehart Consulting, and is an Adjunct Professor of Urban Studies at Tennessee State University. She has over 11 years experience working in the areas of Community Planning, Housing Policy, andCommunity Design here in Nashville. While a city planner, Tifinie lead long-range planning
initiatives in Madison, North Nashville, and Antioch, and was the lead planner in the area of
Community Engagement and Housing Policy discussions for NashvilleNext.
Tifinie uses those skills as a Land Use Consultant, working with investors to help them realize the
highest-and-best use of their property based on sound urban planning principles. Tifinie also uses
her experience to engage diverse stakeholders in conversations around community design and
land use policy. Tifinie has organized and facilitated countless discussions with community
groups, and stakeholders in the Nashville community.
She has led conversations around community engagement across diverse communities as well
as, has led complex and thoughtful conversations around housing and affordable housing with
industry leaders. Tifinie is a skilled communicator, and makes complex land use concepts
relatable to community stakeholders.
During her years as a city planner, Tifinie obtained media training and can deliver complex land
use ideas across various communication mediums. Tifinie has been called upon as a moderator
and panelists in the subject areas of Urban Planning and Design, for events such as Nashville
Design Week, and is a regular guest on local new outlet shows such as Channel 5’s Urban
Outlook, where she discusses real estate, and issues pertaining to affordability and gentrification.
